Hey there, friends! Do you ever find that your laundry doesn’t come out of the washing machine smelling as fresh as you’d like? If your washing machine has a funky odor, stick around till the end of this video, and I’ll show you how to fix it.
First things first, let’s clean the filter. Now, on my machine, it’s a bit tricky to open, so I use scissors to help me out. You’ll need to unscrew it, but before you do, place an old towel or cloth underneath to catch any water. Sometimes, you might find unexpected items in there, like I did – a piece of wire stuck in the pump’s filter. Give it a good wash in warm water with some baking soda, scrub it clean, and then spray it with vinegar.
Next, let’s tackle the detergent drawer. Most machines have a little button you can press to remove it. Mine was quite gunky, so I sprayed it with vinegar and left it for a bit before giving it a good scrub.
Now, pour hot water, baking soda, and vinegar into the detergent compartment and give it a good scrubbing too. Don’t forget to clean the inside of the machine and the rubber seal with vinegar.
To give the machine a thorough cleaning, I’ll add two dishwasher tablets and run a hot wash cycle. My machine doesn’t have a specific cleaning option, so I just use the hottest setting, which is 90°C. Once it’s done, I’ll wipe down any excess water, and it’ll smell clean and fresh.
For my baby’s laundry, I skip the fabric softener. But when I want an extra fresh scent, I add a handful of Lenor scent balls. Occasionally, I’ll add a few drops of essential oil, like lemon or lavender, to the fabric softener compartment to neutralize any odors.
And that’s it! With these simple steps, your washing machine will be clean, fresh-smelling, and ready to tackle your laundry. If you found this video helpful, don’t forget to give it a thumbs up.
